Students who would like to serve their communities through the fast-growing field of emergency services will benefit greatly from the two-year OCM BOCES Firefighting and Emergency Medical Technician program at the Madison County Emergency Management Training Center. This Career & Technical Education program, approved by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, allows students to work under the guidance of NYS fire instructors and prepare to earn certifications in Basic Exterior Firefighting Operations (BEFO) and Emergency Medical Technical (EMT)-Basic. The half-day program combines an on-site classroom with access to facilities, equipment and trained personnel in the firefighting and emergency medical fields. Students will have the opportunity to earn high school and college credits and may be eligible for a CTE endorsement on their high school diploma, which signifies they have met a rigorous industry standard after successfully passing a technical assessment
